"The Elgin Grill".
This cast iron table top hotplate was made by Fletcher Russell and Co of Warrington early in the 20th century. It has one boiling ring and a grill burner which also heats the small oven compartment.
Other examples of this type of appliance bear names such as "The Metro" and "The Bachelor Breakfast Griller", indicating that they were aimed at the population of urban bedsit dwellers which grew between the First and Second World Wars.
