This web site briefly tells the story of gas from its humble beginnings in England to what is now one of the world's most important energy industries. A small selection of the museum's 4,000 historic objects are represented here and can be seen by searching the collection.

The National Museum (the John Doran Museum) is housed in the historic gatehouse building of the former Leicester Corporation Gas Works.
